Be-weave in me...

Hey there, boils and ghouls! It's October...the month of the Great Pumpkin! So begins Americas great shopping, I mean, holiday season. I'm personally not a fan of the hysteria that ensues. Fuuuck that shit, but I will chow down.

Like this, but more "urban".

Halloween is closing in, but I still haven't figured out a costume...A fiend and I were thinking about going as Dionne & Cher from Clueless, buuttttt I don't know. I want scary. I want Braaaiiinnnnsss!!! Bride of Frankenstein, perhaps? If this kitten could pull that off, well, shiiiit.

Dead zombie babe.

I said no whip cream on that mocha!

I just so happened to be trolling along in Park Slope when I came across a "thrift store". There's nothing "thrifty" in Park Slope. The sales bin started at $25. o_0  Any hoo, after some poking and prying, I managed to find a pair of shoes. Size 10? Yes, please....

Oooo, leather soled shoes!
A  little cut-out action for ya...

I also got this pretty cool hand-me-down. My friend, Teddy had no room for it. It didn't exactly go with the color scheme of his room. I think it's Lucite or some other space-age material. The strangest thing is that it has a Spider Man sticker on the bottom, yet there is nothing on the lamp saying that it is Spider Man merchandise! The great god, Google, had no answers for me on this day.

Mystery Lamp

Teddy also had the pleasure of meeting the punch machine that lives in the back of the bar I work at. It's a mean one! If you don't hit it just right, your wrist, aw hell, your whole hand is pretty much ruined for the week. I've broken a few nails. It was either that, or break a face. Darkness.

Punch machine...

versus Teddy.

Let's just say that Teddy won...The boxing babe sprained his wrist a wee bit, but he had a good coach. Wrap that wrist up with some ice, and you'll be good as new!

This bitch.

Aw, Roxanne!!
See you in the litter box!

Weaves of Our Lives

MEOW! Welcome to Fall, everyone!!! I'm so glad that Summer is over. Don't get me wrong...I love Summer. I'm just tired of looking like one of those lost kids from Thunderdome.
It's cute and all.

In anticipation of all this cold weather, I got a new 'do. Welllll, let's face it. I hated the last one. I asked the weave goddesses for forgiveness. After giving them offerings of hair glue and flat irons, I marched my ass down to Cherry's.

Sittin at the bus stop...Chanel head scarf.
After the usual excruciating amount of time and cheap snacks from the corner store, hunty was all done up.
I went back with an old style. Asymmetrical medium length do! No pink or red highlights this time. Let's keep this simple, OKrrr?

After that was all done, I promptly went across the street and scarfed down some Jamaican food. Curry goat? Check. Rice and beans? Check. Throw a ginger beer in there and call it a niiiggghhhtttt.

This was a fun filled night. My friends and I were rooting for Teddy B. Glaze. This fine gentleman pulled it off during every category. At one point, there was a seer sucker suit and bagel tossing involved. Schmear it.

All of the other contestants gave their best. Topher Gross did some some on stage chest shaving and muffin tossing as well. Ice it.

By the end of the competition, the judges minds were made up. There were tears, curses and other various feelings felt through out the crowd. WINNING.

Just lurking with Murray Hill.

Fashion Weave

Here, kitty, kitty, kitty...! As we all know, fashion week is about to rear it's ugly head. Mark your calendar, tom cats and queens: September 8th- 15th! New York Fashion Week will turn men into mice; lionesses into
cubs.
Everyone fancies themselves to be a fashion designer and boy, do they dress the part...

Paris Fashion Week
I'm feeling her. She looks comfortable and good to go! I'm questioning that turban(?) though...Maybe she needs a weave-asaurus trax?

Uh, Hiiiiiiiiiiiii!

London Fashion Week  '10
These three are right up my alley. Black on black layering?! Yes! Oh, so somber and stoic?! Yes! English?! Fuck yes! I want to be their friend just so I can borrow their clothes....and not return them. You know. Because we're friends. And that makes it ok. That's what friends are for.

Meow...

Keeping up with the Jones' and all. This hunty be shoppin. I've been watching ALOT of Mad Men lately. I'm already a fan of pencil skirts and this show is just chock full of em. I caught another one to add to the collection. This was a fast cat!

Feral

On another note, I'm sure the entire universe knows about Hurricane Irene. With a diameter one-third the size of the United States, this was no bitch to fuck with.

We were all disappointed. Left with gallons of fresh water, Cliff bars and other emergency supplies. It was just a bunch of rain and a lot of wind. Some people died. Oops. Whatever, Irene. We all know what's really up.

As The Weave Turns

Hey, there kittens! Just another update in the Life & Coifs of Murder & Pennyfeather. Speaking of Pennyfeather, she just had her barfdae on the 21st!. Roxanne had the pleasure of turning one years old. Keep it classy, Rox!

In preparation for the cooler months, I've been getting my hands dirty. Shopping, among other things. *wink* My awesome roomie Karin, is the owner of Better Than Jam out in Bushwick. cuuuttteee things. I had the pleasure of snatching this bad boy up. Karin made this out of what I think is a 50/50 poly cotton blend.

It's just above the knee, and fits like a glove and is oh so delicious. Check out that screen printing job!

These earrings are AMAZING. Maple leaves dipped in resin and they're all dangly and stuff.

kinda looks like everyone's favourite plant

I got a pairy of vampy pants too! I found myself in Urban Outfitters for some reason. Tween shit. I'm not really a fan of this store, seeing as how nothing is under $50 and it all looks like shit. It was a battle. Red leopard print mini skirt or these pants.

ooo, la la
cuff detail
pocket detail
Pants won. Now. Prepare yourself for the awesomeness that is...The Boot. I'm going to destroy these by wearing them so much. I pity you, shoe.

You know that moment when you take the first bite of that double fudge brownie you've been craving? That's how I felt when I saw these. Ka-BOOM!

See you in the litter box!

Weave-asaurus Trax

Man, has it been hot. We've had a couple of 100 degree days out here in the Big Apple, but luckily there's been hot parties, hot music and even hotter bodies to keep us feeling cool. Speakin of music, I CAN'T get enough of this track: Ooooooh. This shit is twerk worthy fo sho.

Hellllllllloooooooooo Nurse! This time around I went with a short cut with a swoop. We all know how I like a burst of colour, so I threw some red in there. Ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb! I went to a different salon this time around. Sorry Miss Cherry. *Hangs head* I learned my lesson. The time spent was way longer than usual and the quality? Meh. I will not break routine again. I wanted something shorter that the last cut I had. It was way too hot to have all this hair swishin and swashin all over my neck parts.

Siiiiick....this is definitely, hands down, one of my faves. I think we've found a wiener. New York will be be seeing more of this weave.

On the other side of the litter box....Roxy is still up to her wily ways. Being cute as fuck for one. She manages to stay cool by chillin in the AC, and sipping/playing with ice water. Awwww... How'd I get such a cute cat? Thanks, Jose!!

I've been putting in some beach hours as well with my hunty, Erica. Rockaway Beach has finally crawled out of the darkness and into the light. Back in the day when I was young, (I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again) that was not the place to be. But thanks to some awesome eateries, such as Rippers & Rockaway Taco (fish taco, allow it.)  and "time", Rockaway can once again be not just the thing of legends and Ramones songs. Chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum.

                                                                           Babe #1

                                                                         Babe #2

I got my bike up and rolling again. I've been so lazy and wrapped up in other things that I forgot what it was like to skid! I'm shopping around for a new whip. If you know someone that wants to get rid of a size 55, let me know. Mama needs some new wheels! Hmmm, Velo City next year?

That's all the hair balls I got for now. See ya in the cat box!!

I Am The Worst One Yet...

I am delicious sweat. Dear Babes in Toyland, you still rock.

I've been forgetting all about blogging due to the amazing weather that New York has been having. That and some bumps in the road called life. Last I checked, there was my barf dae in April promptly followed by a kitty crisis. One thing at a time...

My barf dae was amazing! Hair done, nails done, alllllllll that. My hunty, Erica, threw me quite the party at Kitty @ Wreck Room. She made a  giant cat pinata, and cup cakes! Lion and tigers and bears! Meow!

That's the remnants of the cat pinata on my head.

I found the perfect birthday dress at a thrift store. LBD!! A little black satin shift. Damn, grrl. I was thanking the fashion faeries because I knew what I wanted to wear but had no idea if I would find it. Whew!

Here's a creepy late night zombie photo taken at my barf dae BBQ...Braaaaiiinnnsssss.......nom, nom, nom.

On to Miss Pennyfeather.. That cat thought it would be a good idea the eat some thread that was lying around! BAD KITTY. The thread worked it's way into her little belly and did some damage. Big time damage. But no worries! Everything worked out just fine. Roxanne went into surgery, had a great recovery and is back to her old antics. No strings attached.

Pay no attention to the scarf with the fringe on it.

Well, ta for now. See you in the litter box!

General Cat Hospital

Hey there, Queens & Sires. We're on a somber tip this time around. My better half, Ms. Roxanne P. Pennyfeather, just so happened to decide that string is delicious. Not realizing her folly, she nibbled away and is now hospitalized. She will be spending the night at the Williamsburg Animal Clinic, waiting for her turn to go under the knife tomorrow. Please send her all your kitty love!!

Lady Roxanne at her finest

We're Baaaccckkkk........

Not that Roxanne and I went anywhere. After a 2 month hiatus, we have returned to beguile you with our kitty stories and antics.

So, in between my last bloggy blog, there has been quite a turn of events. Roxanne and I had to run for our lives from the last kitty palace that we had in Bed-Stuy. We caught our roommates thieving from us! Oh, the horror. It was a dark New Years Day. Creepy roommate dude came slithering into my room. He didn't know I was home. I was lurking n my room with the lights off, nursing a hangover and a hard days work. Long story short, him and his girlfriend had a massive heroine problem and decided to use me to fuel their addiction. Siiiggghhh. Let us not dwell on such dark times. Thanks to my awesome friend Greg, Pennyfeather and I were out of there in a jiffy! Thanks for helping us move...again!

That's Greg and his cute, chubby dog, Gixer. Gixer likes to play Pillow Puppy. Ah, a dogs life. Roxanne prefers to use me as a pillow. I'm not mad at this. Not at all. Purrr....

Here is the latest 'do that I've been rocking. I broke down and got a weave similar to the wigs that the fierce Nicki Minaj rocks. Rose pink bangs and some wavy curls for texture. This is one of my favourites!! But wait, aren't they all? This weave is actually sewn in and not glued like the ones I've had previously. This shit takes FOREVER, though. They corn-row your natural hair, oh, so tightly, and then they can begin the process of weavin or sewing the tracks. Let me tell you...my head was throbbing when girlie finished braiding me up. I had Janet Jackson's Throb up in this betch.

Zombie 'do 2011...I'm getting ready for the Undead Apocalypse. Because this bad ass weave is sewn in tighter than Aretha Franklin is sewn into her dresses, it lasts longer. Who doesn't like longer? I also like versatility. After wearing my hair down for a couple of weeks, I switched my game around and started wearing my hair up. Oh, snap! I've found my look for Spring/Summer! Pin-up meets Rockabilly meets Mimi Murder! Waves of contentment are washing over me.

That's it for now. Since it's starting to warm up in old New York, I will be doing a lot more season appropriate shopping. Ah, summer time side boob, here we come!! Roxanne, stay outta the cat nip!! Jeez...

*heart*

Hair Done, Nails Done

Happy New Year!!! It's taken a few tries, but I am finally able to get in there and up-date this bad gurl. There have been a few obstacles in the way, such as hang overs, work schedules, catching roommies thieving and sheer laziness. All right, Pennyfeather, we've got some catching up to do! "Meow!"

This is Meredith! She's a new friend I've made by way of Abby Rock. Here she is imitating the stance of some old guy on a horse named Paul Revere. One if by land, two if by sea!!

Here's the New Year's weave! That's some high class art behind me. It's called a bathroom wall.

New Year's eve day I marched my way down to Cherry's Unisex Salon. Located in the heart of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, this place was already buzzing at 11:30. Sigh. I knew this was going to be a wait. I was supposed to be there at 10:30, but due to missing the bus, getting lost in some CRAZY mini-mall with WAY too many exit only signs (wtf), and being really stoned, and having to pick up the hair for the 'do, I was late. Oh, Mimi, what have you done?
I plopped down in a chair and and took a look around at what the other ladies are getting done. Hair creations!! The smiles and attitudes are almost payment enough for the  stylists that work here.
This time around, I wanted something with a little more length. I also had the urge to start playing with color. Side bang, with pink high-lights and layers? Yummy! Ms. Cherry herself was going to do my weave today! Ms. Cherry owns the salon, hence the name. A lovely lady from Jamaica, she's got her eye on everything that going on. I couldn't get a picture of her this time because she was pressed for time,

After a wash & dry, the beautification program began. I'm still growing the sides out from the lovely Mohawk, so we went with the stocking cap method. Ms. Cherry slapped a black stocking cap made for this purpose on my noggin. Not my photo, but is what it looks like: stocking cap 'do.  Tracks get glued on like so much macaroni in first grade. A little while later Ms. Cherry can begin styling and doing that thing that she does. A hair dream comes true!!. I glide out the door feeling as light as a feather. I didn't have intentions of going out this New Years, but God damn, I look and feel amazing. Delicious!

Unfortunately I rang in the New Year with the worst manicure ever. Ooof. Cracked this and broken that. I didn't have hands, I had claws!! Oh, sorrow! I promptly went to this little salon in Bushwhack (spell check is funny!), Brooklyn. Century Nail, located on Grand St, is one of those bootsy salons but they do such a good job with silk wraps. They also have a cute selection of nail art, but there is rarely new art. Oh, we'll fix that by getting some killer nail art done by my girl, Fleury Rose.  I've gotten some skull and crossbones, ice cream cones ( nom) and even Totoro! She's blowing up!!: Blood Rose Nails. Due, to my high impact gesturing and work, only one nail was deemed photo worthy. Pout. Anchors away! Little rhinestones! Thanks Fleury!

Next time on this channel, we'll be focusing on some fashions. My closet is bored with me. I need to beg her for forgiveness. Shopping!!

That should about cover it, huh, Pennyfeather? "Purrr...."
